Helene Weedman Wiggins
Helene Wiggins, 94, passed away June 15, 2017, at Bell Mountain Village and Care Center, Bellevue, Idaho. A military memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the gravesite in the Ketchum Cemetery} with Reverend Mark
Inouye, Wood River Presbyterian Church, presiding.
Helene was born March 10, 1923, grew up and attended school in Deland, Illinois. After graduating from high school, Helene attended Stephens College and the University of Illinois, Champaign, majoring in Art History, until leaving to join the Waves from 1943- 1945 as an Aviation Machinist's Mate Third Class USNR during World War II.
Helene worked for many years at New Trier High School, Winnetka, illinois, as the Boy's Physical Education Department secretary, and at Sun Valley Executive Services, Sun Valley, as receptionist. Helene was a member of the Wood River Presbyterian Church and very talented in art and calligraphy and loved playing bridge, skiing and golf. Helene was best known for driving her 1973 white VW around the Valley for 20+ years.
Helene is preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Marguerite Weedman; husbands Colonel John Grable Jr., Robert Paul} and Frederick Wiggins; daughter Nan Emerick; and son Robert Paul Jr. Helene is survived by her brother Herbert Weedman; daughter Judy Nicholson; four grandchildren T.J. Nicholson, Scott Nicholson, John Emerick, and Jeff Emerick; and great grandson Mason Nicholson.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Helene's many friends, Bell Mountain Village and the Wood River Hospice for their extraordinary support and care in Helene's final days.
A reception will be held immediately following the service at the American Legion Hall, 220 Cottonwood Street, Ketchum, Idaho.
