Life Story for James Leroy Wallace

James Leroy Wallace died Friday, July 6, 2018, at his home in Eckert, CO at the age of 69.

He is survived in life by his wife Dee Wallace, children Audrey (Michael) Drobnock and Andrew (Katie) Wallace and their mother Mavis Wallace, brother Gerald Wallace, sisters Delores Rezendes and Mary (Dan) Shoemaker, grandchildren Scott and Alexandra Wallace, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother Robert Wallace.

He spent his childhood in the Bellevue, ID area, graduated from high school in 1967 from Wood River High School in Hailey, ID, and college from the University of Idaho with degree of Bachelor of Science in Forestry. From the time he could walk it was rare to see him without a gun in his hand and a dog at his side.

His children were raised in Coeur d’Alene, ID while he worked for the Fernan Ranger District. He enjoyed outdoor activities including hiking, camping, gardening, and bird hunting. As a Christian, he loved the Lord.

Jim worked as a Forester for the US Forest service at various locations including the Nez Perce National Forest and several of their districts, Coeur d’Alene, ID, and Libby, MT. While managing helicopter bases, many forest fires were fought while he was on the job. He retired in 2006 to Eckert, CO.

During retirement Jim was an avid trap shooter and a member of the Delta Trap Club where he spent many hours shooting and participating in club activities. He won several shooting competitions. Having grown up in farm country, Jim and his wife Dee kept busy cultivating a garden including a small orchard and raising chickens. Early in the morning he could be found in the hunting blind with his buddies.

His family and friends knew him to be very active every day and willing to help those in need at a moment’s notice. He had a very special love and devotion for his family and close friends.
