Robby Dean Kessler

December 10, 1958 — May 20, 2024

Gannett, Idaho

Robby Dean Kessler, 65, a resident of Gannett, Idaho passed away in the loving arms of his children from a long battle with cancer on May 20, 2024.

Rob was born December 10, 1958 in Twin Falls, Idaho to parents Clifford Kessler and Merlyne Kessler. Rob grew up in Hazelton, Idaho with siblings, Ronald Kessler, Debbie Costello, Jerry Kessler, Cliff Kessler, and Terry Kessler. In 1977 Rob married Ruth Kimball, soon after they had their first child, (daughter) Jamie Alldredge on May 10, 1978. A year later on September 7, 1979 they had their second child (daughter) Jennie Braley. Rob met the love of his life, Bonnie Carpenter, in 1982. They married April 6, 1984. They had two children together, (daughter) Jessica Collins born November 16, 1985 and (son) Robby M. Kessler born December 18, 1986. All four of Rob's children have 3 children of their own, totaling 12 grandchildren.

Robby worked as a garbageman for about 30 years from 1977 until he retired from Wood River Rubbish/Clear Creek Disposal. His motto was "work hard, play harder!”, a value he passed on to his children. In his earlier years Rob boxed for the Montoy Boxing Club and P.A.L. Boxing Club. He had a passion for the great outdoors. You could often find him fly fishing for smallmouth bass, rainbows and brown trout. He spent many years fishing with his mentor Ed Cutler.  If you didn’t find him fishing, he was probably bird hunting or big game hunting with his family and friends. Rob was known for getting into his share of bar fights all over the state of Idaho with his best friend Jamie in their earlier days. Earning him the nickname Rotten Robby, he was also known as The Cowboy, Muledeer Man, and few other names that I can not say here, haha.

Although Rob was once rowdy, he also had a big heart. He loved taking in new hunters and showing them his ways and setting them up with a nice rifle and knowledge. He would give the shirt off his back for those he cared for. Rob was an amazing hunter, fisherman, and father. His phone would ring nonstop in the fall with friends calling asking for his advice and guidance. Rob was an Idaho boy through and through. He was a great cowboy. Some of his fondest memories were working cattle with his father at his parents ranch in Hazelton, Idaho. Rob loved his life and family very much. He will be missed, but we know he is happy to be reunited with his loving wife Bonnie.

Rob is survived by his children: Daughter - Jamie (Ike) Alldredge of St. George, UT; Daughter - Jennie (Pat) Braley of Veyo, UT; Daughter - Jessica Collins of Hailey, ID; Son - Robby M. (Amy) Kessler of Gannett, ID; Brother - Ronald Kessler of Jerome, ID; Sister - Debbie (Rich) Costello of Eden, ID; Brother - Jerry Kessler of Jerome, ID; Brother - Terry Kessler of Twin Falls, ID; and 12 beautiful grandchildren.

Rob was preceded in death by his Wife - Bonnie Kessler; Parents - Clifford and Merlyne Kessler; Brother - Cliff Kessler; and Nephew - Andrew Costello
