Life Story for Dolores Mae "Dorie" Parke (Johnson)
Dolores “Dorie” Mae Parke, age 88, passed away peacefully at Bennett Hills Center in Gooding, Idaho on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
Dorie was born on March 10, 1929 in Boise, Idaho to Mont and Mae Johnson. She attended and graduated from Richfield High School. She completed one year of education at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT and two years at Links Business School in Boise. She married Curtis L. Parke on October 4, 1948 at the Salt Lake LDS Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Curt and Dorie lived in Richfield for thirteen years prior to moving to Carey, Idaho. They were the proud parents of six children, five sons and one daughter.
Dolores is survived by five of her children: Randy (Pat) Parke of Carey, Renee (Don) Fowler of Wendell, Gary (Helen) Parke of Centerville, UT, Wayne (Risa) Parke of Kaysville, UT and Neil (Michelle) Parke of Mesa, AZ; twenty-nine grandchildren and sixty-one great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mont and Mae Johnson, sisters Berdina Rae Peck and Norina Wilson, her son, Jim Parke, grandson, Robert Parke, and two great-grandchildren, Lincoln Parke and Brylee Fowler.
Dolores was a member of the LDS church. While in Richfield she served as a dedicated Cub Scout den mother, chairman and pack leader for many years. Dorie was a real scouter at heart! All five of her sons earned their Eagle Scout award. LDS church callings were near and dear to her as she served in the nursery program, primary, visiting teacher, compassionate service leader, genealogy specialist and Relief Society President. Curtis and Dolores served an eighteen month LDS mission in North Carolina from 1995-96. She worked at an insurance agency in Hailey for several years, before becoming the school secretary at Carey Schools for eleven years until her retirement in 1994. She was selected as the Blaine County Heritage Court Queen in 2009. Dolores was very talented in many areas and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, canning, ceramics, collecting dolls, gardening and bowling. She was always happiest when doing things for others and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Dolores will be held at the LDS church in Carey, Idaho on Monday, November 27 at 1 p.m.
