Kenneth ""Posey"" Neely
Kenneth Kendall "Posey" Neely, 99, passed away at the Bell Mountain Village and Care Center on February 27, 2015.
Born January 28, 1916 in Bluffs, Illinois, she grew up in Bluffs and attended schools there until moving to Fort Benning, Georgia with her aunt and uncle, l Colonel and Mrs. Herbert Haries. As a teenager, she traveled by train across the U. S., then by ship to Hawaii then Japan on the way to the Philippines to spend the summer with the Haries.
She met Robert Benton Neely at Fort Benning and they were married in 1937. As an Army wife, she lived in many Army posts throughout the world, including Fort Sill, Fort Benning, Fort Bragg, Fort Eustis, West Point, Governor's Island in New York harbor, and maintained a home for their family in Washington D.C. After Brigadier General Neely retired from military service, he was employed by Boeing Aircraft to sell helicopters and that took them to Stuttgart, Bonn and Munich, Germany and many other places in Europe and the Middle East. They retired to Ketchum in 1968 and continued to enjoy traveling to see their military friends.
Posey enjoyed her time as a volunteer with the Ketchum Community Library and served a term as Chairman of the Board.
She is survived by her son Tom Neely of Ketchum. Her husband Robert and son John preceded her in death. Private graveside services are planned for late spring.
