Marla Mink

Marla Gay Mink, 77, of Bellevue, Idaho passed away peacefully on March 25, 2025.

Born on September 4, 1947, in Buhl, Idaho, the daughter of William W. “Hap” Johnson and Alma (Blackham) Johnson. Marla was the beloved wife of Clarence W. “Tyke” Mink for 45 years. She was the devoted mother of Marvin Burrell Jr., Michael Burrell, and Darin Burrell, and a proud grandmother to Broadie Burrell, Hannah Burrell, and Jack Burrell. Her legacy also lives on through her great-grandchildren, Adrian Burrell and Luca Burrell, and the countless others who called her grandma.

Marla was one of seven siblings, surviving by Dennis (Judy) Johnson of Boston, Massachusetts, Linda (Byron) Downard of Bellevue, Dana Johnson of Bellevue, David (Carol) Johnson of Pecos New Mexico, and Kim Thomas of Hailey with her brother Ben Johnson having preceded her in death.

Marla's passions in life were centered around her family and her love for cooking, gardening, and taking care of everyone around her. She had a successful career as an escrow officer, working for many local title companies and building long-lasting relationships with her clients. After retiring, she dedicated much of her time volunteering at The Senior Connection in Hailey and the Bellevue Museum, where she continued to share her time and kindness with others.

Above all, Marla adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known for her warm hospitality—any visitor would often leave with a full stomach or a jar or two of her homemade, canned goods. Her nurturing spirit touched many lives.

In accordance with her wishes, Marla was cremated and did not want formal funeral services. The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date to honor her memory and the beautiful life she lived. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Bellevue Historical Society (Bellevue City Hall) benefiting the Bellevue Historical Museum.
