Obituary for
Janice Adele Marana
Janice Hilding Marana, a long-time resident of Ketchum, died peacefully at home on Thursday, Aug. 25, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.
Born in 1934 in Stockholm, Sweden, Janice came to the United States in her early 20s to live with her sister in San Francisco, Calif. While in San Francisco, she saw an advertisement for Sun Valley, and after visiting Sun Valley, she decided to move here in the early 1960s.
Janice worked as a travel agent in town for more than 20 years. Her career as a travel agent took her to many countries around the world, and she enjoyed sharing her experiences with friends and family.
Janice loved everything the Wood River Valley had to offer: cross-country skiing, tennis, gardening, hiking and riding her bike.
She was blessed to have many wonderful friends whose kindness will never be forgotten.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Robert "Bogie" Marana. She is survived by her sister, Diana Stewart of Ferndale, Wash.; brothers, Paul Hilding of Novato, Calif., and Kenneth Hilding of Sollentuna, Sweden; son, Robert "Scot" Marana, daughter-in-law, Mona O'Brien-Marana and beloved granddaughter, Sienna Kathleen Marana, all of Eagle, Colo.; nephew, Craig Stewart and his family of Seattle, Wash.; and Kim Hilding and Jessica Hilding of Sweden.
