Life Story for
Maria Rosario "Rose" Mallory
Maria Rosario “Rose” Mallory, 88, of Hailey died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Bell Mountain Care Center in Bellevue, Idaho.
She was born November 25, 1926, in Ybarrenguelua, Vizcaya, Spain to David and Epifania Inchausti. She arrived from Spain in September, 1929, and joined her father in Idaho. The family settled in Hailey in March of 1936.
Rose worked as a telephone operator, a bank teller, and did bookkeeping for her husband Bill’s bakery The Pastry Shop. She enjoyed knitting and was active in her church. She served as a hospice volunteer, translating for the English as a second language community whenever needed, and as a writer for the Wood River Journal “Blainetalk”.
Rose was instrumental in identifying and cataloging the negatives and photos of the Mallory Photo Collection and in donating the collection to the Hailey Public Library with the Mallory family. Bill and Rose were Grand Marshalls for the 1998 Fourth of July. She was Hailey representative for the Queens Court.
She loved her family, friends and church community.
Surviving Rose is her son Michael (Kenna) Mallory and grandchildren Heather, Mark and Paul; her daughter Jesse (Jim, deceased 2014) Nisson and grandchildren Travis, Nicole and Ryan; her daughter Janet (Ernie) Carlsen and grandchildren Erica, Michael, Erin, Brannon, Brittney and Chad; and twenty-two great grandchildren. Her husband Bill, her parents David and Epi and her sister Mary Louise all preceded her in death.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, June 1, 2015, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Hailey. Visitation hours are scheduled from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm Sunday, May 31 also at the church. Interment will follow in the Hailey Cemetery.
