Life Story for
Marion Alysia Malarkey
Marion Alysia (Packer) Malarkey, 85, of Sun Valley, passed peacefully on October 17th, 2016 at the St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center near Ketchum, Idaho.
Marion was born in San Francisco on March 9th, 1931, and she was the beloved only child of Charles H. Packer, Jr. and Maude A. (Schendel) Packer. She spent her childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended Dominican College in San Rafael, California. While attending college, she met her future husband, Terrence Mathew Malarkey, and they were wed January 20th, 1952.
In 1968, after spending many winter holidays and summers in Sun Valley, Marion moved to the area full time. She volunteered with the Moritz Hospital Auxiliary and the Community Library and was an active member of the community. She took full advantage of the Sun Valley lifestyle, playing golf, skiing, and enjoying the outdoors at Pettit Lake. In her later years, she was known for driving her Subaru, the "Dog Car," around the Valley, filled with her golden retrievers.
Marion is survived by her four children, Terrence M. Malarkey, Jr., Christina D. McCleary, Shawn K. Malarkey, Peter S. Malarkey, her three grandchildren, Maureen A. Murphy, Bailey K. Malarkey, and Huntington C. Malarkey, Jr., and her dog, Billy the Kid.
Marion is preceded in death by her youngest son, Patrick K. Malarkey.
