Jack Jackson Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Sun Valley, Idaho on April 24 just shy of his 83rd
birthday after a tough battle with cancer.
Jack was born in Charleston, West Virginia on May 6, 1941 where he lived until he attended Miami
University in Oxford, Ohio. After graduating with a BA in business, he worked in sales, then co-owned a
commercial construction company in Richmond, Virginia.
He found his way to Montana, then the Wood River Valley In 1992, where he met his partner of 28 years,
Karen Curry. Jack, Karen and their Australian Shepard, Jasmine were an integral part of the Elkhorn
community. Jack will always be remembered for his love of fly fishing, his story telling and his kindness
to all, especially puppies, who gathered around him at the Harker Center and wherever else he went,
knowing there was treat in his pocket, just for them.
His primary passion was for AA - helping others along its path and researching AA history. He could
regularly be seen at noon meetings either at the Hailey Sun Club or in Ketchum. The AA community
went above and beyond in its support during his battle with cancer.
He is survived by his son, Jack Jackson III and his daughter, Davin Jackson, who both live in Richmond,
Virginia. He also has two granddaughters, Kinley and Merrick and a great-grandson Toon, also of
Richmond, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his brother John.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hailey Sun Club on July 14, 24.
