Obituary for
Joanne Hooper
Joanne Hooper,76 of Pine, Idaho was in the arms of her husband, daughter and son in-law when she peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012 in her daughter’s home in Hailey,Idaho.
Shirley Joan Zinn was born March 9,1936 to Charles O. and Margaret Kyle Zinn in Meridian, Idaho.
When Joanne was a child, her parents and siblings moved from Idaho to Oregon. Joanne attended Ontario High School and in 1953 received her diploma from Nyssa High school where she was a popular student and baton twirling majorette. Joanne was a talented writer. Possessing a flair for poetry, her thoughts were published in a book during her senior year in High school.
After many years of being chased by Blaine, who won out over many other boys, Joanne and Blaine were married on a spring afternoon April 18,1958, in her parents home. A faithful match made in heaven. Their devoted union existed fifty four (54) years. Joanne and Blaine raised two daughters, both born in Nyssa, Oregon, Kathryn Ann and Brenda "Brandy" Lynn.
In 1962 the young couple struck out for the city, moving to Boise to raise their young family. Blaine started a new career in which Joanne was his built in secretary. For many years Joanne and Blaine called Boise, Idaho "home". Gardening, sewing, canning and homemaking while raising her family filled her younger years. In the 1970‘s Joanne took pleasure in her fulfilling career at Mode O' Day, a ladies dress shop located in the Franklin shopping center and Westgate Mall. Joanne was a people person she enjoyed a laugh and a story with everyone. She retired from the retail business in 1979.
Together, Joanne and Blaine visited many destination points. They traveled from the East coast to the West coast, Mexico to Canada, as well as parts of Europe. Always explorers, the couple enjoyed discovering what was "around the next bend". They cherished moments venturing around the country, sometimes riding in the convertible with the top down, sometimes with camper and boat in tow. Joanne loved to fish, a talent she inherited from her mother, Margaret. In return, with Papa at the helm, Joanne affectionately known as 'Vine de Vine' passed her angling skills to her grandchildren.
Retirement was not for Joanne. In 1999 she went to work for Ada County, first in the election department, eventually becoming the Ada County Recording office supervisor. A position she took with pride and honor. Helping the public was truly her forte.
In the 1990's, Joanne and Blaine built a cabin and eventually retired in Pine, Idaho. There they established many wonderful friends and participated in many activities. Snow machining, four wheeling, boating, fishing and playing in the mountains she loved. Taking a ride in the Razor was a thrill. All this wholesome activity was right out her front door. Recently, Joanne and Blaine spent part of the winter months in Lake Havasu, Arizona.
Forever committed to each other, when Joanne became ill, Blaine was her constant companion and caregiver. Her family and close friends helped her last few days on earth be calm and comfortable, feeling loved and safe. An honor each one of us will hold dear in our hearts forever.
Joanne, we will always remember your warm smile, your bright blue eyes and your quick witted comebacks.
LOVE YOU FOREVER
