Gregg Matthew Hedin

December 18, 1971 — June 20, 2024

Bellevue

Gregg Matthew Hedin passed away in his home in Bellevue, Idaho on June 20, 2024. He lived an adventurous 52 years, with the sky, mountains, and rugged terrain being his sanctuary.

Born in Mount Vernon, Washington to Albert and Evonne Hedin, Gregg was raised with the outdoors being a priority. He graduated from Colville High School in Washington State, where he was captain of his wrestling team and participated in State wrestling championships.

After high school, Gregg followed in his father’s footsteps, attending the University of Washington, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity and graduated with a degree in Forestry. Gregg’s lifelong career, however, developed after he became a CPA, working for multiple companies, including ESS Goggles and Firstlite.

Gregg’s generous heart loved much. He had a great appreciation for animals, both wild and domestic; he loved his rescue dogs Kimmie and Black Betty dearly. Kimmie was often seen following Gregg down the Sun Valley ski slopes.

Gregg was proud of the help he offered his friends in rebuilding Coyote Yurts and loved his time spent in Stanley, Idaho. Hunting and skiing were his passions. He had many friends who loved his quick wit, powerful storytelling, and supportive nature–and he admired each of them in return.

He was preceded in death by his father Albert Hedin; he is survived by his mother Evonne Iriarte (Jerry); brother Mark Hedin (Anne); sister Ann Lane; and nephew Brynn Iriarte.
