Life Story for Sheryl Luana "Sher" Foster

Sheryl (Sher) Luana Foster peacefully left us on May 8, 2019. She was born on October 12, 1947, in Sandpoint, Idaho, where she grew up on the faily farm in Clark Fork and where her love of nature, animals and all things artistic began. After high school, she graduated from Central University in Ellensburg, Washington, where she majored in art and counseling. She spent a year in Mexico City, Mexico, studying pre-columbian art at the University of America’s. Continuing her studies in art and sculpture, she obtained a Masters in Art. She spent a year in Iran teaching art to children of Americans living abroad. Living in Hawaii for eight years, she designed stained glass windows for private homes, doors for architects and did design work for the Sheraton and Hyatt Regency Hotels. She also owned her own art gallery, managed art galleries and taught art to grade school children in Hailey and Sun Valley, Idaho.

She had a deep love of animals and helped work to restore wolves back into the environment in Yellowstone and Idaho. She was an avid hiker and cross country skier, often encouraging her friends and family to keep pace with her.

Her further interest in helping others led her to a career in counseling for suicide prevention working at Crises Clinic in Seattle, Washington, and further as the Executive Director for the Crisis Hotline in Ketchum, Idaho, for the last 12 years.

She is survived by her mother, Vieno Foster of Buhl, Idaho, siblings Jerry Foster (Linda) of Buhl, Idaho and Darryl L. Foster of Boise, Idaho, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A Celebration of Sheryl's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday June 15, 2019, at The Life Church, 931 North River Street, Hailey.
