Samuel Gary Loomis was born April 13, 1940 to George A. Loomis and Mary J. (Karnes) Loomis. He was the third and youngest son following George Loomis Jr. and Ned Loomis. He was raised in Whittier, California where George Sr. owned and operated a construction company. He attended California High School and met Susan Hanus, they married in April of 1960.

Gary worked at Culligan Water then after meeting Jim and Lupe Sutton, he worked with Jim in the auto business until coming to Idaho where they opened the Sutton and Sons Chevrolet in Hailey. Gary was on the staff there until his retirement.

Gary and Susan have three children who have survived him: Jeffrey Scott Loomis who resides in Murietta, CA, Denise Jill Gunderson of Nashwauk, MN, and Jayson Lee Loomis also living in Minnesota; five grandchildren Ashley Williams, Cody L. Loomis, Caitlyn Loomis, Seth Loomis and Heather Nicole Loomis; two great grandchildren Asher Curtis Williams and Sophia Loomis. My best friend was Jim Sutton and I was blessed to meet Gary in Southern Calif in the 1980's. When Jim and his boys decided to but a Chevy Dealership in Hailey Idaho I had no idea it would be a life changing event for my family. Gary was the used car manager for Sutton and Sons Hailey Dealership. Jim Sutton being the best salesman on earth convinced us to move to Hailey in 1992. Gary would buy Cars at Southern California actions and I would fly down to California and drive them back Hailey. Gary and I also spend countless hours together hunting and fishing Idaho. Gary was always completely loyal to family and his friends. George Loomis Gray's older brother built our home in Indian Creek (Hailey) in 1992. Kate worked with Ned Loomis as a new realtor in Ned's small office on main street Hailey. I will miss Gary but my memories of my time with Gray will never fade. God Bless Gary's family and Rest in Peace Gray.

I worked with Gary for four years at Sutton and Sons in the 90's. He was so easy and fun to around every day. I loved his sense of humor. I loved the calm way he went about his business and admired how confident and knowledgeable about what he did.
A sweet, kind and fun guy. It was always so important to me to like the people I had to spend my days with when working and he made that easy.
I'm sorry for your loss. I miss his smile often.

I met Gary several years ego when I was invited by Gary's high school friend Joe Baglio to go trout fishing in Bishop California. Thats where I was introduced to Gary, who had to drive some 11 hours from his home in Idaho .What struck me right away was the kind quiet demenor Gary
displayed to me and all his friends.I never heard him say a mean word to anyone. He was generous with advise how to catch the elusive smart trout I was trying to catch.I will treasure the memories of every trip I had the pleasure spending with Gary.
In October 2017 my wife Terry and I spent 4 wonderful days visiting with Gary at his wonderful home. His warmth and welcoming hospitality
was a great experience for both of us.We will keep him in our thoughts
and prayers daily.May God bless his family at this difficult time.
