Life Story for Marguerite "Marggie" Carlsen (Scott)

Marguerite "Marggie" Carlsen (Scott)
Marguerite Rose Scott Carlsen, 66, of Hailey, Idaho died peacefully on July 31, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Marggie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on January 21, 1952 to Idaho natives Richard A. Scott and Rosann I. Lecertua Scott and was the big sister of Rick and Julie. Many will remember Marggie as the loving mother of Nicole and Scott Carlsen.

After earning her BFA in Design at UC Davis, Marggie started her career in Ketchum and Sun Valley, first creating and teaching the very popular “Mixed Media” children’s workshop at the Sun Valley Center for the Arts and Humanities, where she forged life-long friendships. She moved on to be part of another wonderful team of friends and colleagues at The Answering Service, all the while continuing to work as a talented graphic artist and calligrapher.

After marrying Bradley Carlsen in Sun Valley, Idaho in 1981, Marggie and Brad moved to Washington, where they raised their two children in Ki'rkland and Orcas Island. During her time in the Seattle area, Marggie worked as an advertising sales associate until the family returned to the Wood River Valley in 1996. Marggie continued as an ad associate for Names ‘n Numbers. She will be remembered first as a loving mother and a beautiful, gentle, fun, smart, creative, funny, friendly and warm-hearted soul.

She will be greatly missed by her loving family: her daughter Nicole Carlsen Latva and her husband Josh Latva, of Verdi, Nev.; her son Scott Carlsen of Seattle, Wash.; her former husband and friend Bradley Carlsen of Ketchum; her sister Julie Scott and her husband James Hall of Alford, Mass. and many cousins and countless loving and devoted friends. Marggie is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Rick.

A memorial celebrating the life of our dear Marggie will be announced at a later time.
