Life Story for Joyce Drexler-Christopherson

Joyce Drexler-Christopherson
Joyce Drexler-Christopherson passed peacefully of natural causes in her home in Challis, Idaho on December 1, 2017, at the age of 88. Joyce was preceded in death by her Mother Lucille Ellen Seal, her father Edward Cecil Seal, and her beloved brother Ray Seal of Hailey, Idaho. Joyce is survived by her sister, Nadine Ivie, of Ashton, Idaho, her son and daughter Jim and Jana Toothman of Boise, Idaho, her daughter Tammie Yacomella, her son Scott Drexler both of Challis, Idaho and her daughter Elizabeth Aitken of Hailey, Idaho. Joyce was Grandmother to nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.

Joyce was born at home to Edward and Lucille Seal on March 9, 2017 in Preston, Idaho. The family later moved to Hazelton, Idaho to farm the land. That is where she met and married her first husband, Jack Toothman. They were wed on June 24, 1948, and together they had three children, Jim, Jana, and Tammie. During those years, Joyce worked various jobs as a waitress and cook in and around the Sun Valley and Ketchum area. During that time she made life-long friends. Jack and Joyce divorced in 1962. Joyce then met and married her companion Chester Roseberry in 1965, but this only lasted a few years, and they parted as good friends and managed to keep in touch. Joyce later became sealed in the Mormon Temple to Mr. Roseberry. Then she met the next love of her life and married Orville Eugene Drexler, on Dec. 9, 1969. They moved to Hailey, Idaho to reside. From their union, two children were born, Scott and Elizabeth. The couple had land just outside of Hailey, where Joyce tended a large yard, garden, horse, dog, cows and calves. She was very self-sufficient. Orville was born June 27, 1927 and passed on May 23, 2001.

Joyce then spent her life enjoying her family. She loved to travel and visit her sister and family. She later moved to Jerome, Idaho where she lived for several years. Later in life, she was reunited at a high school reunion, with her childhood friend, Dale Christopherson. They soon married and traveled together until Dale passed away on August 24, 2012. Joyce then moved to Challis, Idaho with her son Scott Drexler, where she could live close to her daughter Tammie Yacomella in 2012.

Joyce was a strong and resilient woman. No matter what life gave her she always managed to come through. Her life was grace and she achieved this through being gracious. She was fertile in both mind and body, creative, and caring. She had an underlying innocence.

Joyce loved animals, especially dogs and horses. She was dedicated to her family and was a good and loyal friend to those she loved. There was much wit and wisdom she shared , even with strangers, that touched everyone she met. Her many talents showed through in the works of her hands. . . sewing, clothes making, cooking, gardening, fishing, preserving food, to name a few, and she loved to read. She spent many hours compiling her families’ genealogy, and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and often volunteered, and taught Relief Society at the church in Hailey, Idaho.

A funeral is scheduled for Dec. 12, 2017 at the Hailey LDS church located at 821 Broadford Road. Viewing is at 10:00 am and the service will begin at 11:00 am. Bishop Jeff Shiver will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the life of Joyce Christopherson.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Wood River Chapel. Flowers and condolences can be sent to the Wood River Chapel, 403 N. Main Street, Hailey, Idaho or at www.woodriverchapel.com. The family would like to thank the Challis EMT unit for the care and concern they have shown.
