Life Story for Jolene Brown Brink

Jolene Brown Brink
Jolene Robison Brown-Brink died peacefully at her beloved home in Featherville on Feb. 28, 2017, with her husband, Bruce, by her side.

Jolene was born Jan. 3, 1938, at her family farm in Ioka, Utah, to Russell H. and Thelma Robison. She had five siblings, all of whom have survived her: Kent (Karen) Robison of Logan, Utah; Gloria (David) Maughan of Hooper, Utah; Jana (Michael) Flaherty of Ogden, Utah; Gary (Carmen) Robison of Roosevelt, Utah; and Cindy (Joe) Duncan of Roosevelt, Utah; as well as many nieces and nephews.

It wasn’t long after high school when she began her business career, rising to become a distinguished publisher. She founded Names and Numbers in the Wood River area as well as Sun Valley Source magazine. While living in Hawaii, Jolene published several award-winning, hardcover coffee table books of Hawaiiana. She went on to orchestrate the first runway fashion show in Honolulu, working with Louis Vuitton III. Jolene and her husband, Bruce, produced and published the Wailea Magazine for the island of Maui.

Bruce Brink and Jolene Robison Brown were married in 1982 on the Middle Fork of the Salmon River by the Honorable Jamie T. Ross. Later they renewed their vows in a ceremony conducted by Rev. Sandra Bazovsky held at their Featherville, Idaho, home. They were bound by love, business and their taste for the “art of living.”

Jolene’s style and flair for design were reflected in her every activity, including her homes in Hawaii and Featherville, Idaho. She loved fine things of every kind, from flowers, gardens, fashions and family to friends.

Her friends were varied and many. She shared her big smile openly, even while suffering from respiratory and other maladies. Her strong love of her family and community gave her strength and courage. Jolene painted a canvas of elegant beauty wherever she was.

Jolene Robison Brown Brink was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Thelma Robison, and by her son, Douglas, who was taken in a tragic accident. Her survivors include her siblings named above as well as her son, Michael D. Brown, and wife Jan, of Featherville, Idaho, and her grandson, Parker Brown of Board Ranch. Parker was truly her pride and joy. She was an inspiring matriarch and loving mother and wife. She is also survived by her husband, Bruce, who recognized her as his soulmate and is devoted to her forever.

There will be a casual, drop-in-style memorial for Jolene on Thursday, March 30, from 2-4 p.m. at the Wood River Chapel, 403 Main St., Hailey, Idaho. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at Jolene’s remains will be kept until her husband’s passing to be spread together over the Trinity Mountains.
